Security Cameras, Dock WiFi & IT for Marinas and Boat Dealers
Boats worth more than the buildings, sitting outside, on water, all winter. Cameras and connectivity are not optional.
A marina holds millions of dollars of customer property in the open, spread along docks that cable cannot easily reach, next to water that reflects and interferes with radios. Half the year it is busy. The other half it is empty and quiet, which is exactly when theft and vandalism happen.
Balzer Computer Consulting installs camera and network systems built for that environment. AI cameras watch the docks, fuel dock, lot and ship store, and they know the difference between a person on a dock at midnight and a wave. Point-to-point wireless links connect docks, the service building and the far lot to one recorder without running cable across water. Dock WiFi keeps slip holders happy, and a 3CX phone system routes calls to whoever is on duty.
We serve marinas and boat dealers from Port Clinton and Marblehead through Sandusky, Huron and Vermilion, plus the inland lakes of North Central Ohio.
The problems we get called about
Docks with no camera coverage
Fixed cameras on the building cannot see down the finger piers. Boats get boarded and fuel gets stolen off camera.
Water between buildings
Running cable to a dock house or a lot across the basin is expensive or impossible. Most marinas give up and leave gaps.
Off-season blind spots
Winter storage lots and shrink-wrapped boats sit unattended for months. Cameras that need a live internet feed often go dark when service is cut back.
Slip holders who want WiFi
Dock WiFi is now expected. The office router does not reach the outer docks, and a bad guest network can expose the business systems.
What we install for marinas & boat dealers
AI cameras on docks, fuel dock and lots
4K cameras placed at pier heads, the fuel dock, the launch ramp, the ship store and the storage lot, with intrusion zones drawn on the docks so a person after hours triggers an alert and a boat rocking does not.
Learn morePoint-to-point links across the water
Radios with line of sight connect dock houses, the service building and remote lots back to one NVR in the office. Camera traffic and WiFi ride the same link.
Learn moreDock WiFi with a separate guest network
Outdoor access points along the docks give slip holders real coverage while keeping the point-of-sale, fuel system and office on their own protected network.
Learn moreLocal recording that runs all winter
Footage records to an NVR on site with months of retention. Cut the internet back in January and the cameras keep recording; remote viewing returns when service does.
Learn more- Ten to fourteen 4K AI cameras: main dock heads, fuel dock, launch ramp, ship store, service bay, two lot views, entrance
- Two point-to-point links: office to dock house, office to winter storage lot
- Outdoor access points along the main docks for slip-holder WiFi, separate from the business network
- One NVR in the office with 90 days of retention and phone alerts for after-hours dock activity
- 3CX phones for office, service desk and fuel dock, with on-call routing
Every property is different. This is a typical layout, not a quote.
How the project runs
- 1Site walk on the docks and lots, and a check of sight lines across the basin
- 2Written design with camera positions, link paths and a price
- 3Installation in the shoulder season, before launch or after haul-out
- 4Annual spring check so cameras and WiFi are ready for the first weekend
