Security Cameras & WiFi for Community Pools, Swim Clubs and Aquatic Centers

A pool is a liability the day it opens and a target the day it closes. Cameras and connectivity cover both.

Community pools, swim clubs, campground pools and aquatic centers have two seasons of risk. In summer, the deck is full and the board wants a clear record of what happened if there is an incident. In the off-season, an empty fenced pool with a concession stand and a pump house is an easy target.

Balzer Computer Consulting installs camera systems that cover the deck, the gate, the concession stand and the pump house, recording locally with months of retention so a claim from June can still be answered in September. Point-to-point wireless links connect a pool house or a pump building to the main office without trenching under the deck. Pool-deck WiFi gives members and lifeguards a working connection, separated from the membership and point-of-sale systems.

We serve pools across Huron, Erie, Lorain and Richland counties and the Cleveland suburbs, including pools that are part of campgrounds, parks and HOAs.

What usually goes wrong

The problems we get called about

Incidents with no record

A slip, a fight or an injury claim months later, and nobody can say what happened. Insurance and the board both want footage.

Pump house and pool house off the network

The building with the chemical controller and the building with the office are 200 feet apart with a concrete deck between them.

After-hours entry

Fence jumpers at night, and empty facilities in the off-season, with nobody watching the gate.

Membership and POS on guest WiFi

Check-in tablets and the concession register sharing a network with members' phones is a security problem waiting to happen.

How we solve it

What we install for pools & aquatic facilities

Deck, gate and building cameras

4K AI cameras covering the deck from two angles, the entry gate, the concession stand and the pump house, with human detection for after-hours alerts and intrusion zones on the fence line.

Point-to-point link to the pump house

An over-the-air link connects outbuildings to the office so the chemical controller, cameras and any monitoring are on the network without cutting the deck.

Separate networks for staff, POS and members

Outdoor WiFi for the deck with member traffic isolated from the check-in system and the register.

Long retention, local recording

An NVR on site with 90 days or more of retention, so an incident claim that arrives weeks later can be answered with footage.

A typical community pool setup
  • Six to eight 4K AI cameras: two deck views, entry gate, concession stand, pump house, parking lot, playground or splash pad
  • One point-to-point link from the pool house to the pump house or to the HOA or park office
  • Two or three outdoor access points for deck WiFi, member network separated from staff and POS
  • NVR with 90 or more days of retention and remote viewing for the manager and board
  • Off-season mode: cameras keep recording with alerts routed to the manager's phone

Every property is different. This is a typical layout, not a quote.

How the project runs

  1. 1Site walk of the deck, buildings and fence line, and a look at where internet enters the property
  2. 2Written design with camera positions, link paths and a price the board can approve
  3. 3Installation before opening day or after the season closes
  4. 4Pre-season check each spring, including retention and alert testing
